Things To Do During In The Okanagan
During The Month Of June
Check out Okanagan events June 2010!
The end of school countdown is on, festivals fairs and other great events begin.
You'll find lots
of fun things to do in Kelowna, Penticton, Osoyoos, Vernon BC, Salmon Arm,
and all around the valley to kick off summer! Be sure to visit some beautiful
wineries around the region too!
In the South Okanagan, early June is the beginning of cherry season!! If you're wanting some delicious Okanagan fruit, start in the South Okanagan, Osoyoos area, where cherries are harvested first.
Check for fruit ripening dates here, and remember the dates are general guidelines, weather pending.
You will be able to find fresh fruit at farmer's markets, local roadside fruit stands,
and orchards, or farm fresh markets around the Valley.
Some orchards offer tours, as well as pick your own fruit. Just bring along a hat, sunscreen, and some good shoes!
Be sure to be prepared for being out in the sun at outdoor festivals and events. Sunscreen, hats, and protective clothing is important at the beginning of the summer
season. Okanagan Valley weather can be unpredictable in June. It can be hot, or colder, so also prepare with adequate clothing for weather changes. But most importantly....have
a great time!
