Penticton BC Vacation
The Okanagan Peach City, Best Beaches & Much More!
So what does a Penticton BC vacation offer that the rest of the Okanagan doesn't?
Well, we think it is the most beautiful,
family friendly city in the Okanagan Valley.
No matter what you wish to see or do, you'll find
something here within easy reach.
Geared for tourism all year round, the visitor oriented community
offers all the conveniences of bigger cities,
but without all of the big city hassles.
And you really couldn't ask for a better place to visit with kids.
With a population of about 34,000 the Penticton, sometimes mispelled 'Pentiction', lies perfectly
between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake
making it one of the best beach towns in the Okanagan!

You can even fly into the Penticton regional airport if you're
coming from Vancouver.
The 'Peach' Okanagan Beach
Known as the 'Peach City', not only by the giant peach on Okanagan beach, ;-)
but also for the peach festival, which takes place every August.
The slogan for our city is 'A Place To Stay Forever. And many do. It's
a great retirement community.
The city is surrounded by orchards and vineyards, and is a
popular wine tour destination, with over 20 wineries within a short drive,
and most other Okanagan wineries
within an hours drive of the city.
Golf courses in the area are plentiful, and
offer great play as well as beautiful views of the valley and the lakes.
Rock climbing at Skaha Bluffs, and western Canada's largest rock climbing school with avalanche courses,
guided ski touring and leadership courses brings climbing enthusiats here year round.
Fun Historical Fact
The first Greyhound bus arrived in Penticton in 1931 to
pick up freight and passengers at a local store on Main Street called
McKeen's Drug Store.
The bus was travelling from Kamloops to Oroville WA.
It was a 21-seat GM Bus with a Cadillac motor. ~~~~~
Our city puts on some pretty great festivals, fairs and events with a variety of entertainment throughout the summer.
Penticton enjoys beautiful weather and a mild climate all year round!
Visiting In The Winter
With skiing and snowboarding being the main winter attraction here, many of us locals spend our free time
at Apex Mountain Ski Resort, which is just 45 minutes from the city.
You can also take in a Vees game, or
even do a winter wine tour.
And with the new South Okanagan Events Center, completed around 2008 our local entertainment has risen to a new level,
with high profile entertainers such as Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson,
Rhianna, Taylor Swift, Feist, and Reba McIntyre to name a few.
You may be able to catch a concert while you're here.

Tourism Attractions & Things To Do...
You'll find some great places for camping within the city,
as well as campgrounds & RV parks in the surrounding South Okanagan.
Places To Stay In Penticton
When it comes to lodging and vacation accommodations in the city many people who vacation
here prefer the family friendly motel resorts neart one of the city's two main the beaches.
On Okanagan beach waterfront is the Penticton Lakeside Resort Hotel, the city's main hotel, which has
it's own private beach area and a casino.
It's also pet friendly. And if you're here during winter season, you can get
a stay and ski package deal and head up to Apex Mountain for a day when you stay at the Lakeside Resort.
There are also several motels near Skaha Beach, which
is on the south end of the city.
As well, motels near Okanagan Beach are directly across the street
from the beach and easy walking distance to downtown, and many attractions.
Most summer festivals take place
at this end of the city, so these accommodations are very convenient. But there are other options
for lodging and accommodations too.
