Whenever you're thinking to visit, there is much to take in and enjoy in addition to the beautiful lakes and beaches in the summer.

Here are a few events that are popular around the Valley:

Okanagan Event Centers

If you're looking for concerts, the opening of the new South Okanagan Events Centre offered a new level of Penticton entertainment in 2008. Since then entertainers including Canadian Singer Feist, Alan Jackson, Jann Arden, Johnny Reid, Marianas Trench, Brooks and Dunn, Charlie Pride, Bill Cosby, The Tragically Hip, and Blue Rodeo to name a few, graced the South Okanagan with concerts. And in 2010, Reba McEntire, Billy Talent, and Hedley will be performing.

Prospera Place holds all major Kelowna events, and is located downtown near Kelowna's Waterfront Park. Kelowna has been known to hold topline entertainers such as Paul Brandt, Avril Lavigne, John Mellencamp, Bare Naked Ladies, Nickelback, Nelly Furtado, and events like Cirque Du Soleil.

And if Art & Theatre is more your preference than live concert entertainment, there is a variety of local live theatre, art and culture throughout the region.

Okanagan Monthly Event Calendar

Our Okanagan Festival and Events Calendar lists a wide variety of fun and interesting things to do in the Okanagan for each month. This brand new section of our site starts with events in March 2010 festivals fairs and local current events.

You'll find some big events - food and wine festivals, big name concerts, sports events, local entertainment. Many of the big events that happen around the vally get more publicity and advertising, such as big name concerts and the Okanagan wine festivals. These, of course, cost more to attend.

But there are other great Okanagan festivals and events - many of which are free or inexpensive - that you may not hear about as readily. You'll find those here as well. So even if you're here on a quick business trip, you can find some great local entertainment to take in.

FAQ's About Okanagan Events

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about attending events in and around the Valley - along with the answers.

Q - Where can I get tickets?

A - The South Okanagan Events Center and Prospera Place have box offices for events that take place at those venues. You can also purchase tickets online, through third party sellers such as Ticketmaster.ca or other similar online services.

Ticketmaster sells Okanagan Wine Festival tickets, Penticton Speedway tickets, Kelowna Community Theatre and Canada Western Hockey League (WHL) tickets for Kelowna Rockets games. Third party sellers usually charge an additional convenience fee. In most cases, you can get tickets through both.

Q - What about festivals, fairs and smaller venues?

A - Aside from big name concerts, tickets for most local events are generally available either directly from the venue, or from local sponsors and sellers. Many popular festivals such as the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, sell out, so look for tickets early. If you're planning to attend, you can generally get tickets for these events directly from the organizers websites, or local sellers.

Q - What if I buy tickets and cannot attend?

A - If your plans change, and you are unable to attend an event that you have tickets for, try castanet.net free classifieds. It's quite likely that you'll find someone locally who will want them.
