Okanagan Valley Attractions
Cool Shops, Markets, Artisans & Yummy Food Stuff
There are so many Okanagan Valley attractions to take in at local markets, artisan shops, and other places where you'll find delicious treats.
Along the way to any local attractions you'll likely spot a roadside fruit stand or U-pick orchard where you can stop in and pick your own fruit if you like.
Here's a few ideas for Okanagan tourist attractions that you can visit and treat yourself to local foods, produce and unique artisan foods.
Keremeos BC Farm Markets
Keremeos is known for it's organic fruits and vegetables. And it's also known as the best place to get peppers.
In fact, they grow more than 200 kinds of peppers, from sweet to the hottest peppers, and they celebrate it with the Similkameen Sizzle Pepperfest in the fall.
There are a couple of good markets in Keremeos to visit, including Bear's Farm Market and Mariposa Orchards.
The drive to Keremeos is beautiful as is the entire Similkameen Valley.
Visit Carmelis Goat Cheese Artisan in Kelowna
Kelowna Farmer's & Crafter's Market Arts, crafts, farm produce, artisans, gifts, food, you name it, the farmers markets will have it! Spend a morning or evening browsing through the Kelowna Farmer's market.
Farmer's markets are the Okanagan valley attractions that many of us locals look forward to during the summer.
There's a Wednesday and Saturday market, as well as a Thursday evening market. The market is easy to find, just follow Hwy 97 to Orchard Park Mall, follow the signs to Dillworth and Springfield. Bring cash! You'll likely go home with fresh Okanagan fruits, veggies or other produce. We buy honey and local garlic!
Get Ice Cream at Tickleberrie's in OK Falls Tickleberrie's, in Okanagan Falls, is a popular ice cream parlor with as many flavors to choose from as you can imagine. As you drive through the small community, you'll see Tickleberrie's just past the bridge on the south end of the town.
Enjoy other local treats like kettle corn, amazingly delicious fudge, or their original 'tickleberry'. There's an area outside to sit and enjoy the treats. They also have a small lunch counter. Bring an appetite! [More about Tickleberries...]
Gort's Gouda We already mentioned Gort's Gouda in our ten favorite things to do, but we just had to tell you again, as this is one of our own favorite Okanagan Valley attractions. If you love Gouda cheese, it's the place to get the best around. You can buy it by the wheel, or by the piece.
Other fun stuff to do in Salmon Arm
Their cheeses are made with only natural ingredients, no preservatives, and are made from milk that is produced by cows on their certified organic farm. They do offer tours, but you should call ahead to confirm dates and times.
How to get there...
