When you arrive at Kelowna airport you'll be welcomed by a comfortable, friendly airport without the usual hassles and wait times of many other big city airports. And that means getting to your final Okanagan destination faster! :-)
The Kelowna (YLW) airport has undergone major expansion in the recent past to accommodate for the continuously growing number of air travelers into the Okanagan BC. And being centrally located in the Okanagan, it's easy to get to anywhere in the valley from the airport, within a short period of time - (1 to 2 hours).
Kelowna international airport, is the main Okanagan airport and also the travel hub of the Okanagan Valley. It is located just a short 20 minute drive north from downtown Kelowna. The terminal building is open 24 hours a day, everyday.
Airlines that fly into Kelowna include WestJet, Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, Northwestern Air, Central Mountain Air, Regional-1, and Horizon Air.
Booking Buddy offers comparisons of various hotels and airfares with departures from many gateways.
As you step off your plane at Kelowna airport, and pass through Customs & Immigration, you'll follow a hall and ramp to the main terminal area where you'll easily find the luggage carousel and luggage carts. That's it! No shuttles, no long halls, no multi level escalators!
Once you're in the airport main arrival lobby you simply wait briefly for your luggage, and then go directly outside to catch a cab, golf or ski shuttle, or limousine to your hotel.
In the main lobby of the airport terminal you'll also find a concession, duty free shopping, a gift shop, restaurant, cappuccino bar, White Spot Restaurant, Tim Hortons, on site car rental, a lounge and also handicapped facilities.
There's also an information booth with all kinds of pamphlets, brochures, and other tourist information for sight seeing, things to do, etc. So, plan to pick up some of these to help you find fun things to do.
Parking has expanded in recent years to accommodate the increasing number of air travel customers who need to park their vehicles while they're away.
You can park in the metered parking in front of the airport terminal building for about $1 for 30 minutes. It's directly in front of the main entrance, so not that far to walk for quick parking.
There is a short-term lot, long-term lot and metered parking. Both parking lots are fully lit and patrolled by security, and handicap accessible.
You can expect to pay about $1.25 per hour for the first hour, then $2.25 per hour to a maximum $15 per 24 hours in the short-term parking lot, and $1.25 per hour to a maximum $10 per 24 hours in the long-term parking. You can use cash and credit cards at both the booth and the pay on foot machines.
Kelowna airport transportation such as local taxi service to and from the airport is also available, as is shuttle services, airport limousine service, and bus charters for golf, ski, and resort destinations to get you where you're going in the city, or in the valley.
