One of our favorite beaches in the city of Kelowna is Rotary Beach Park. It's the smallest of the 3 top Kelowna beaches that are family friendly with lots of shade and amenities. And it's close to one of the most popular resorts in the city as well as some trendy restaurants. On a windy day this is a very popular spot for kite surfers as well.
This park has swimming areas, change rooms and a playground, lots of shade and also picnic areas, shady trees. It's a really nice spot if you have kids to keep an eye on.
Your biggest challenge here will be finding parking. There are limited spaces at the beach itself. Also, from this beach, it's not that far to walk to the Mission Shopping area and it's just a skip to a couple of trendy restaurants. But there are limited other amenities in the immediate surrounding block.
If you plan to spend time at Rotary Beach Park, bring a cooler, snacks and a lunch. Once you're settled in on the beach you'll really enjoy this spot. We love to go here with our breakfast to enjoy and relax on an early morning, especially when there's a bit of a breeze coming off of Okanagan Lake.
Dogs are not allowed on this beach. But there is a beach wheelchair available on site after 9:30 a.m.
Getting To Rotary Park
The easiest way to get to Rotary Beach from Hwy 97 (Harvey Ave.) in Kelowna is to take Richter Street. Go south on Richter all the way to Lakeshore Road (T-intersection) and then turn left. You'll pass the Mission Plaza and also pass directly by Gyro Park Beach.
The actual address is 3726 Lakeshore Rd. See it's location on our map here.
You'll see lots of people walking and biking along this area as it's a popular route for cycling. There's a lot of traffic in general along Lakeshore Road. If you keep going south you'll head into the Lower Mission area of the city and eventually up into Kettle Valley.
Other amenities not too far (far) away is Kelowna H2O.
