Summer under the Okanagan Sun!

It's finally here.

Spring was so unusually cold, and long, that even the marmits complained!

But what's best about this time of year?

Anticipation! Everything about the summer is getting into gear, and we know there's much to look forward to on vacation!

June is a great month to be in the Okanagan.

Fresh Okanagan cherries have hit the fruit stands and weekly summer farmer's markets are well underway.

We've already found some great treasures!

We've even visited an Okanagan winery!

We do enjoy strolling through a winery and vineyard, doing a bit of tasting, and taking pictures of the amazing Okanagan Valley views, and of course the wine!

We hope to run into you this summer, somewhere under the Okanagan Sun!

Here's what's New At Okanagan Vacation Guide.com

#1) Fun For Kids

Parrot Island Bird Sanctuary, in the community of Peachland BC.

Well, we thought we were going to see a home for a few unwanted parrots, but what we got was a stunning and eye opening afternoon not only interacting with these birds, but also learning about parrots and other exotic birds and the need for awareness about them.

And we did have a lot of fun!

See our visit!

#2) Okanagan Best Golf Vacations

We humbly have to say that our best golf vacations are usually on a mini golf course rather than the big fairways!

Having said that, though, it's not for lack of appreciation of the game, or our desire for becoming better golfers.

Well, we've found all the courses and golf resorts, and created handy online maps to help you find them, but there's just one thing missing on our Okanagan golf pages....you!

Your Okanagan best golf vacations!

Your golf experience, favorite course, least favorite course, best play, worst day, or beaten by your best friend....

Have you played golf somewhere in the Okanagan? Or do you know someone who has?

We want your golfing vacation story. And a picture too, if you have one!

We (and the world) want to know your stories, opinions, your reviews!

#3) Okanagan Wine

We finally took an afternoon off from the kids, and ventured out to an Okanagan winery.

There's only a hundred or so to choose from, but we liked the name and philosophy of See 'Ya Later Ranch in Okanagan Falls.

It was a tough choice, but we came home with a bottle of white, Jimmy My Pal, and shared it with a friend. Then we planned the next winery visit! there's a lot of ground to cover!

#4) Best Beaches

We've already spent a few days at one of our favorite beaches in the South Okanagan, Sun-Oka Beach.

Though the water isn't at it's warmest quite yet, it's still perfect for floaties and sea-doo's, and for watching sailboats on Okanagan Lake.

And the evenings are even more perfect for beach bonfires (when they're allowed and hot dogs!

And boy, did the kids sleep well that night!

#5) Okanagan Festivals

The Pacific Northwest Elvis Festival, again a huge success and loads of fun for everyone as it coincided with the Penticton Peach City Beach Cruise.

We really got 'all shook up' over the awesome entertainment! And the weather was perfect!

Elvis impersonators from all over compete for the best performance. This year they even had a female impersonator!

There was tons of music on the outdoor stage at Okanagan Lake Park, great food, and smiles all around!

And the winner is....???

Well, that was a lot to share in our first newsletter!

We're heading off for some great camping fun for a few days. There will be loads of kids, and tons of fishing, exploring, biking and hiking...

Me, I'll be just relaxing, and visiting with great friends!

See you next time!

Happy Birthday Canada!

Canada Day celebrations are underway July 1 and then it's official - summer is on!

We'll be at the beach, as usual, to watch the fireworks!

We hope to see you soon under the Okanagan Sun!
