A beautiful Okanagan winter photo
View of the Okanagan Valley in the winter. Winter temperatures are generally mild in the valley, and snow doesn't stay on the ground for long in the South Okanagan.
The Shuswap region is well known for it's excellent winter snowmobiling opportunities, and alpine skiing is one of the most popular winter activities. There are a number of excellent ski resorts in the Okanagan!

Trestles Along the Kettle Valley Rail
The Kettle Valley Railway 600 km-long trail of abandoned railway corridors, marked by tunnels and trestles built in the early 1900's. The KVR is one of the most fascinating attractions in the Okanagan, and a popular route for biking and hiking. There are 18 trestles in all, hundreds of feet above ground, including the infamous "McCulloch's Wonder".
Okanagan Lake in Penticton is home to local sculptures
A view of Okanagan Lake in Penticton BC, during a cold winter snap! These sculptures rest on rocks along the shoreline near the Japanese Garden in the city of Penticton. This unusually cold weather caused the lake to begin to freeze over, which it has not done for many years. In fact, in the mid 1900's when the lake did freeze over, ice sailing across the lake was a popular winter sport!

Mascot Gold Mine
Mascot Gold Mine near Hedley BC. The mine buildings were built on a cliff almost 1 km off the valley floor. The mine is one of the Okanagan's most unique attractions, where you can explore the original mine buildings, see how the mine operation worked and what life was like here during those days.
