Points Of Entry To The Okanagan, British Columbia



There are several US Canada Border crossing points in British Columbia and the Okanagan Valley, including one border entry point directly into the Okanagan at Osoyoos/Oroville.

U.S. - Canadian Border Crossings Into BC

Generally crossing the border into Canada is straight forward and includes going through Canadian immigration & customs when you enter and leave the country. The biggest hassle is usually the length of the queues, so consider trying to avoid the peak travel times such as Canadian Public Holidays and the start and end of the working day.

  • Osoyoos BC - Oroville Washington
  • Highway 97, Osoyoos, British Columbia - U.S. Route 97, Oroville, Washington. The closest US Canada border crossing to the Okanagan is in Oroville/Osoyoos. The border crossing at Osoyoos is open 24hrs/day and often has no delays. Be sure to bring one of the acceptable proofs of U.S. Citizenship to cross the border into Canada.
  • Midway BC - Ferry Washington
  • For travellers coming to the Okanagan from the east, there is a border crossing at Midway, BC on Dominion Street with Ferry, Washington. The daytime hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, seven days a week, all year long. From Midway travel west on BC Hwy 3 to the Okanagan Valley.
  • Abbottsford BC - Sumas Washington
  • British Columbia Highway 11, Abbottsford - U.S. Route 9, Sumas. Located approximately 3 hours west of the Okanagan Valley. This border crossing is open 24hrs/day, and connects with Trans Canada Hwy 1 to travel to the Okanagan.
  • Aldergrove BC - Lynden Washington
  • BC Highway 13 - U.S. Route 539, Lynden. This border crossing is open 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. From here you can travel north to BC Hwy 1A, then east to the Trans Canada Hwy and on to the Okanagan Valley.

If you're traveling into BC and the Okanagan from the Oregon coast, you can cross the border at the Pacific Highway or the Peach Arch US Canada border crossing locations.

Tips For Travel Through Canadian Border Crossings

Driving A Rental Car Or RV Rental?? Driving a rental vehicle across Canadian border crossings is usually not a problem, as long as you have made proper arrangements with your rental company. Make sure you have a copy of the rental agreement with you always, and that is clearly states you have permission to take your rental vehicle across the border into Canada.

The Border Information Service (BIS) is a computerized, 24-hour telephone service that automatically answers all incoming calls and provides general border services information. If you have questions about Canada border services, you can speak directly to an agent during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (08:00 - 16:00 local time / except holidays).
