Sicamous British Columbia
Sicamous British Columbia has long been known for summer houseboats on Lake Shuswap, a popular draw for visitors to Sicamous BC. Some consider it the 'Houseboat Capital of Canada'.
There are literally hundreds of houseboats for rent during summer, and the lakes become dotted with visitors enjoying the sunshine and summertime on the dark blue waters of Shuswap Lake.

Sicamous is located adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway at the Highway 97A junction of Mara Lake and the Shuswap Lake system.
It has a population of about 3,000 which, like other cities and towns in the Okanagan, grows during the summer months!
From both Vancouver, BC, and Calgary, AB, Sicamous British Columbia is about a 5 hour drive. Kelowna to Sicamous is about 1 and a half hours by car, and from Seattle, Washington it is approximately seven hour driving time.

Summertime in Sicamous British Columbia offers tremendous opportunities for exceptional wilderness hiking, and for exploring the beauty of British Columbia's natural forests.
There are many beautiful campgrounds to enjoy
Although the main industry in this region is forestry, and the town was once a major railway depot, there are many farms and orchards in the area where you can enjoy fresh grown fruits and vegetables as in the rest of the Okanagan Valley.
Fishing, swimming, water-skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and touring the lakes are some of the tremendous outdoor summer activities that are available.
"Sicamous Narrows", is a channel of water that connects this quiet resort community to Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake and the word actually means "to squeeze together" or to "narrow".
Visitors on a houseboating holiday can access both lakes from Sicamous, and enjoy the summer even more!
Freshwater fishing for trout, kokanee and other fish varieties, as well as canoeing, kayaking and a multitude of water sports brings many people here.
Golf courses, lovely soft sandy beaches, beachfront resorts or cozy mountain cabins stowed away in the dense green of the forest, You'll want to stay here much longer than you planned!
For a family vacation adventure, there are many places to visit for day trips and outings, and in August the Moose Mouse Sand Fest is a delight as you watch the sandy beaches become creative works of art!
There are two suspension bridges near Sicamous Canada, at Crazy Creek and the Malakwa Suspension Bridge at Eagle River. The Crazy Creek Suspension bridge leads to the beautiful Crazy Creek Falls and is well worth the adventure!
There are also some beautiful provincial parks> located near Sicamous British Columbia. Silver Beach Provincial Park, Herald Provincial Park, Yard Creek Provincial Park, Mara Provincial Park, and Shuswap Lake Marine Provincial Park.
Surrounded by mountains and forest, Sicamous is a true nature lover's paradise.
The Shuswap Lake area supports more than 250 bird species.
Blue herons, ospreys, American dippers, Western Grebe, Great Horned Owl, and bald eagles are common sights around Sicamous and Lake Shuswap, as well as many other birds.
In the fall, Sicamous British Columbia celebrates the annual fall Fungi Festival.
The festival takes visitors on an educational and fun tour in wild mushroom picking and eating.
This is a popular event that lasts a whole week long.
At the Fungi Festival you can go on guided tours, learn about mushrooms, try out wild mushroom picking, eat gourmet mushroom dishes, and enjoy lots of great entertainment throughout the week.
Sicamous Winter Attractions
Winter vacations offer tremendous leisure opportunity for activities such a sledding, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
Close proximity to superb downhill skiing and snowboarding> also makes it a perfect winter vacation destination.
Silver Star Mountain Resort near Vernon, Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops, as well as Revelstoke Mountain Resort on Mount MacKenzie are all within a few hours from Sicamous.
Sicamous holds some of the best alpine snowmobiling in all of British Columbia, with fantastic sledding areas at Blue Lake, Eagle's Pass, Owlhead and Queest.
