RAREARTH MUSIC FEST August 6, 7, 8, 2010 The Rarearth Jazz and Blues Fest is a celebration of the arts where Musicians, Artisans, Food Vendors, Music lovers, and families join together for a feast of the senses on August 6th, 7th, & 8th, 2010.

Kin Race Track Site - 43rd Avenue & Old Kamloops Road

Artists working with artists celebrating our rare piece of earth through music.

Calypso, R&B, Pop, Classic Jazz and Blues, originals and covers from Latin, French, and Italian captures thousands of tourists and locals for 3 days of family fun. Spotless lush grass in the heart of beautiful Vernon, B.C., with over $1,000,000 on two stages of high-end professional equipment with Sound and Production Engineers from Killer Sound engineers, produce crisp, clear sound that attract high-end performers from around the world.

With a vision and commitment to our rare piece of earth and working toward a plastic free environment, the festival leads by example creating a familial, educational environment through music, food, as well as adult and children workshops. Rarearth has stepped up to the plate by creating awareness, as well as composting and recycling initiatives. We believe that teaching the next generation of children to be cognizant of their world is ultimately the best place to start. Clowns, Elves, Drumming Circles, biodegradable balloons, 'Kid Zone Area', and face painting, not only provide fun but teach our children about their surroundings. 2010 will feature Kiki the Eco Elf who will cover topics such as alternative energy sources, protection of land diversity, and the 3 Rs (reduce, reduce, reduce).

Our first year 2008, was organized within a 3 month time frame and at 4 degrees Celsius, the festival was able to attract over 1000 people who enjoyed local musicians as well as Juno, American Music, and Indie Award winners; 2009 saw numbers increase despite being surrounded by fires and environmental unease. Headliner Mr. Buddy Guy, who boasts 5 Grammies, 23 WC Handy Blues Awards, and musical collaboration with the likes of BB King, Eric Clapton, and Carlos Santana proved to reflect in our numbers, showing a positive growth of new business.

The vision for 2010 is to start off Friday evening at 4:00 pm with auditioners, and winners of the Our Kids Have Talent competition www.ourkidshavetalent.com on a separate stage - Stage Right Special guests for Friday night will be Blues Icon Mr. Wes Mackey, American Music and Juno Award Winner Alfie Zappacosta, Chris Harwood Jones (top ten from Our Kids Have Talent), our own Sherman Tank Doucette and Maria Muldaur. Saturday night starting at noon will have a full day of music from the Mason Rack Band from Australia, The Legendary Barney Bentall, Sam and Luke ($5,000 winners of Our Kids Have Talent), Jim Byrnes, David Gogo, and Rumba Calzada. Back by popular demand Sunday will start with 40s & 50s harmonies of the Company B Band, an afternoon of Gospel is slated beginning with our own Juno nominated Jon Buller, a 2 hour concert with the the Black Heritage Gospel Singers, local Vernonites Andrew Allen and Kath and the Tomkats PLUS a two hour grand finale' concert with Blues Goddess and Multi Music Award Winner, Miss Rita Chiarelli.

Rarearth will follow a mandate of consistency in our product which will always be of the highest caliber of artists that funds will allow; promotion of local first including musicians, contractors and trades, small businesses, local radio, networking, lead by example, offer variety, follow our green theme, promote familial environment, and align with reputable Corporate representation.

The Rarearth Jazz and Blues Fest stands at the forefront in having something extra to offer those wanting to be at a music festival with a green theme. The fact that I witnessed an environmental catastrophe in Cozumel after Hurricane Wilma hit that left miles and miles of plastic waste on the beautiful sandy shores creates not only a musical intensity but an environmental one as well. The concept of green was not driven by a trend but by a love of the earth, especially Vernon for me, and is certainly a work in progress.

My hope is that anyone with a plastic bottle in their hand will be looked at in disbelief - See you at the Festival!!!
