Penticton sits between two of the Okanagan Valley's most popular lakes - Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake making it one of the best beach towns in the Okanagan! The city itself has a population of about 34,000. You'll find all the conveniences of bigger cities, but without all of the hassles. You can even fly into Penticton Airport

There is a myriad of outoor activities, summer festivals, fruit orchards, hiking and biking trails, and other events to enjoy. Penticton weather is dry and desert like in the summer, making for long warm days.

Wine & Golf
Penticton is also popular as a wine tour destination, with over 20 wineries in the area, and most other Okanagan wineries within an hours drive of the city.
Golf courses in the area are plentiful, and offer great play as well as beautiful views of the valley.

Penticton is known as one of the best beach towns in the Valley. With beaches on both ends of the city, great weather, and long summer days, there's lots of beach family fun to be had in the beautiful warm waters....

  • Okanagan Beach Okanagan Beach at the north end of the city, runs along Lakeshore Drive to the Penticton Marina.
  • Skaha Beach - And at the south end of the city is Skaha Beach. Skaha Beach is backed by a beautiful park, tennis courts, an outdoor road hockey area, a fun playground and family splash park. It's ideal for families with children.
  • Sudbury Beach is a popular spot for kite surfers and wind surfers. There is a small parking lot for access, public washrooms, a beach volleyball net, and a convenience counter.
  • Airport Beach is often less crowded than the other beaches, but is still a great beach. Access to Airport Beach is across the highway so be prepared to carry your beach gear down with you, as well as cross a busy section of highway.

  • Got pets? There is also a great dog beach near the Okanagan Lake Park and Marina. It's a fenced off area where you can take your canine out for a cool off!
  • One more thing... You simply can't visit Penticton Canada without floating the river channel!

    Just bring a floaty and a snorkel & mask and you're all set! The channel is about a 7 km trip and your ride is the floaty you bring along with you! (or you can rent one!)



Penticton Accommodations & Dining

Hotels and many motels in Penticton Canada are set directly across from, or very near to the beaches, making accommodations convenient for many. A number of campgrounds and RV parks are also located on or within a block or two of beaches on Skaha Lake.

  • Elvis Festival The Pacific Northwest Elvis Festival rocks the city with a weekend tribute to Elvis Presley.
  • Peach City Beach Cruise Hundreds of cool classic cars and antique cars cruise Penticton and are displayed at Okanagan Beach along with great entertainment and a midway.
  • Beach Blanket Film Festival A full sized movie screen floating 25 feet offshore on Okanagan Lake; bring a beach blanket along or a lawn chair for an evening movie!
  • Peach Festival Penticton Peachfest is the best festival of the summer; a celebration of peach harvest it's been running since 1947!
  • Subaru Ironman Canada Triathlon is one of the largest and most successful annual races in Canada and is on in late August. There are over 2000 participants in the race, which begins at 7 a.m. with the swim, and ends with the run.
  • Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival The weekend following Labour Day (Canadian Stat Holiday), and entertains with three days of World Class Jazz music. They say it's the "Best Jazz party in the Northwest!"
