Kid & Family Friendly Things To Do

Looking for some kid friendly Penticton attractions? When you're on vacation looking for things to do with kids, keeping them occupied with kid friendly entertainment can sometimes be a challenge.

Well, there's lots of things to do in the city that are totally kid friendly, and depending on their age, you're sure to find enough attractions to keep them happy.

For the little ones, there are splash parks at Okangan beach and Skaha beach, both with nice playgrounds, and shady places for playing when you prefer to be out of the sun.

For the older kids, outdoor adventures are endless in and around the city of Penticton, with mountain biking and hiking trails, like the Kettle Valley Trail for great sightseeing, and plenty of back country for exploring.

Fun Things To Do In Penticton BC

Biking Take a ride on the Kettle Valley Trail on the east side of Okanagan Lake. The trail is flat, an easy ride, and the views are beautiful. Don't forget your camera!

And if you're up for a longer ride, head out to Naramata where the KVR trail will take you to the 'Little Tunnel' high above the valley.

Skateboarding The huge skate park in Penticton Canada is right along Riverside Park, near the River Channel launch. During the summer there's lots going on, admission is free, and the park is supervised.

Bike Rental No problem... there's a bike rental shop (ok, this isn't free, but it's fairly cheap!) near Okanagan Lake, where you can rent all kinds of neat pedal type rides to cruise around on.

Loco Landing Mini Golf Mini golf, who doesn't like to mini golf? Right next to the skate board park, Loco Landing also has go karts, rock wall climbing, bumper boats and a bungee bounce, and is one of the most convenient Penticton attractions for families.

Penticton Speedway Oval track auto racing at the Penticton Speedway is a popular and friendly family tourist attraction. Day and night races on Saturdays and Sundays offer fun entertainment, especially the "Hit To Pass".

There's much more to do and see around the Okanagan, for everyone.

If you don't mind a drive, head down to Osoyoos to the Osoyoos Desert Center where you can learn about the unique desert ecosystem, and the plants and animals that inhabit this region. The Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory is also a favorite stop. Massive radio telescopes study galaxies, like the Milky Way, through uninterrupted radio waves from space.

Visit the summer farmer's market Every town has a farmer's market in the summer and in Penticton it's on Saturday mornings from 8 until 1 p.m. Spend a leisure morning browsing the local artisan booths for fresh fruits, vegetables, crafts and art. (This is free unless you buy something!)

Stop in at the SS Sicamous, on Okanagan beach for a tour of the largest passenger boat built by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). In the early 1900's these stern wheelers transported people and cargo across Okanagan Lake. When roadways and railways were built, the boats were docked permanently. The SS Sicamous is one of the few historical Penticton attractions around.

On your travels, stop and pick some fresh Okanagan fruit. It's what the Okanagan is known for. If you drive along highway 97 south, you'll spot 'U-pick' signs for fresh fruit, as well as road side fruit stands.
