Keremeos BC - A Fun Day Trip For Families & KidsDay trips are always fun and relaxing. When we visited Keremeos BC, we stopped in at Bear's Fruit Market and a few other little hidden gems around the Okanagan Similkameen.
We took a day trip, in October, and ended up spending a lot of time searching for the "perfect pumpkin" at Bear's Fruit Market.
There were so many pumpkins, it was hard to choose!
And with three kids along, it was even harder to get them all to agree on which one we would take home! We found a large variety of fresh, locally grown squash, like spaghetti squash and butternut squash.
We also found all kinds of fresh peppers, potatoes, onions, apples, pears, plums, and many other specialty items that are unique to the Okanagan. Bear's Market is easy to find. It's right on the highway as you drive into Keremeos, on British Columbia Highway 3A. Here's a map to get there. View Bear's in a larger map It's about a 40 minute drive from the city of Penticton, on Highway 3A. If you're driving from Osoyoos, you can follow highway 3 north. There are a few other neat places to visit in this area as well, so you could spend the better part of the day out here. Farmer John's Zoo is a treat for the kids. The Dominion RadioAstrophysical Observatory is close by. And the old Grist Mill, is a B.C. Heritage Site near Bear's Market. Wineries continue to develop around the Similkameen Valley. And you can continue along on highway 3 to Princeton and Hedley, to visit the Mascott Gold Mines. |
