Cherry Pickup In The Okanagan

by Diana
(Richmond, BC)

Hi there,
We would like to know if it is the right time for cherry pickup? If so, can you please advise driving route? We live in Richmond, and should I take #1 HWY? Which exit should I off then?

Thanks very much.

Okanagan Vacation Guide:

Hi Diane,

Yes, mid July is the right time for picking up cherries in the Okanagan Valley. Cherries in the Penticton and Summerland area are ready now.

Getting to the Okanagan from Richmond BC, you would take the Trans Canada Highway to Hope, BC.

From Hope you can drive the Coquihalla Highway to Merritt and then take Highway 97C to Peachland.

Alternatively, you can follow Highway 3 from Hope BC, through Manning Park, to Princeton, Keremeos and then to Penticton.

Either way it's a beautiful drive. Highway 3 through Princeton is a more leisurely drive. You can stop in Manning Park, which is approximately 26 km west of Hope, and approximately 50 km east of Princeton.
