sockeye salmon run

The Adams River is one of the richest natural spawning streams in North America, with Chinook, Pink, Sockeye, Coho Salmon all 'run' back to the river to spawn each year.

During September and October and the Salute to the Sockeye, the banks of the Adams River 405 km (251 miles) inland from the Pacific Ocean, becomes the scene of a natural miracle.

Every fourth year (2006, 2010, 2014...) is a 'dominant run', and the numbers of fish that return is in the millions! Hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park, a section of the river dedicated to the famous British Columbian conservationist, fly-fisherman, naturalist and author, view this magical event. There an extensive interpretive facility has been developed by the Adams River Salmon Society, to help visitors appreciate and understand the ecology of the salmon and their environment. If you can't be there for the Salmon run, you can spend an amazing day learning about this natural wonder.

Renamed as 'Three Sisters Waterfalls' for the community namesake Whitfield Chases' 3 daughters, Chase Creek Falls is an incredible sight, as most of the year there is either so much water volume, or so little, that they are joined as one waterfall. These "dual waterfalls" are actually a scarcity. During
