Kalamalka Lake Sunset
This large and vibrantly colored lake stretches from Coldstream (near Vernon) to the small community of Oyama. There are a number of excellent beaches including BC Provincial Parks around Vernon and Kalamalka Lake. The lake is named for the Indian chief who occupied its northern shores, although many believe (incorrectly) that it means 'lake of many colors' in the Okanagan language.
Spallumcheen Valley Splendor
The golden fields of the largely agricultural area of the Spallumcheen Valley are a delight to explore. Rolling landscapes create unending palettes for photographers and artisans. Every September, the City of Armstrong BC hosts the Interior Provincial Exhibition & Stampede (IPE), which is British Columbia's premier agricultural exhibition.
Okanagan Lake Summer Sunset
This panoramic summer sunset of Okanagan Lake was taken near McKinley Landing. Scenes such as this are common from Mid-April through September. The mountain ranges surrounding the valley in all directions provides stunning opportunities for exploring and photographing wildlife, landscapes, historical places, and beautiful scenes of nature.
Double Rainbow Over The Okanagan Valley
A beautiful double rainbow arches over a small portion of Little Shuswap Lake, near the Village of Chase.
Chase BC Switchbacks
The Chase Switchbacks trails are suitable for hikers of all abilities and easily accessed. The views of the Little Shuswap Lake and Thompson River are spectacular.
Silver Star Resort
Looking a little like a miniature set in a snow globe, Silver Star Mountain Resort, a skier's paradise, is located just northwest of the City of Vernon, near Silver Star Provincial Park, in the Shuswap Highland of the Monashee Mountains. This area typically receives over 700 cm of snow every winter. Silver Star is also home to the Okanagan Summer Wine Festival, and is a summer destination for mountain biking and hiking.
Curious Coyote
An ever-present sight along many roads and trails throughout the Okanagan, these wild relatives of domesticated dogs are highly social, intelligent, adaptable and are to be respected from a distance, as with all wildlife.
Autumn Salmon Arm Golf Course
Fall color at The Executive Course at the Salmon Arm Golf Club, designed by Les Furber. With more than 50 courses offering every conceivable type of terrain and challenges, golfers of all levels will find endless variety in the Okanagan, and enjoy some of the best golf vacation in BC. Thank you to Marvin Beatty for sharing these Okanagan Canada pictures. |
